Before you print
Set the invite to never expire
This is the one that catches everyone out. Discord invites default to expiring after 24 hours, so a code printed on Monday is dead by Tuesday. In the invite settings, set Expire After to Never before you generate the code.
Decide whether to cap the uses
Discord can limit an invite to a set number of joins. Leave it unlimited for a public poster; cap it if the server is meant to stay small and you are worried about it spreading.
Check what a new member actually sees
If your server puts new joins behind rules screening or a verification level, someone scanning lands in a waiting room rather than the community. That is fine — but say so next to the code so it does not look broken.

Why did my Discord QR code stop working?
Almost certainly the invite expired. Discord invites last 24 hours by default. Create a new invite with Expire After set to Never, then generate the code from that link.
Can I make a QR code for a Discord server invite?
Yes — that is the most common use. Copy the invite link from your server, set it to never expire first, and paste it in.
Does the person need Discord installed?
To join a server, yes. Without the app the link opens a web page where they can join in a browser or install Discord, so the scan is never wasted.
Can I link to a specific channel?
Yes. Copy the channel link rather than the server invite. Note that people still need to be a member of the server for it to open.
