Event QR Code Generator

An event QR code holds a calendar entry. Scanning it offers to add the event to the phone's calendar with the date, time and location already filled in, so nobody has to type it or forget it.

This type is always static. A event code carries its data inside the pattern rather than pointing at a web page, so there is nothing to redirect and nothing to edit later. It works offline and never expires. To track scans instead, use a Website code pointing at a page with these details.

When to use a event QR code

  • Posters and flyers for gigs, classes and workshops
  • Wedding invitations and save-the-date cards
  • Conference programmes and session boards
  • Shop signs announcing a sale or a launch date

Before you print

Check the time zone

Calendar codes store an exact moment. If you build the code on a laptop set to a different time zone from the event, the entry lands at the wrong hour. Always scan it and look at the time it actually saves.

Put the venue in the location field

Filled in properly, the calendar entry links straight to a map on the day. Left empty, people have your time but not your place.

Test on an Android phone as well

Calendar codes are the least consistent type across Android makers. If the event really matters, a link to a booking page is safer than an encoded event.

Common questions

Does an event QR code work on all phones?

iPhones handle these reliably. Android varies by manufacturer — most work, but a few will show the raw text instead. For anything important, a link to an event page is the safer choice.

Can I change the date after printing?

Not with a static code, because the date is inside the image. If dates might move, point a dynamic code at an event page instead so you can update it without reprinting.
