Manufacturing & warehousing
QR codes for manufacturing and warehousing
Asset tags, maintenance logs and safety instructions attached to the equipment they describe.
Where it helps
Asset and equipment tags
A code carrying the serial number and asset ID. Text codes work with no signal, which matters in a steel building.
Maintenance records
A code on the machine linking to its service history, so the engineer standing in front of it has the record.
Safety instructions
Procedures beside the equipment, updated centrally rather than by replacing laminated sheets.

Questions
- Will codes survive an industrial environment?
- Paper will not. Use engraved metal tags or industrial vinyl labels rated for the temperature, oil and abrasion they will meet.
- What if there is no wifi on the floor?
- Use text codes for anything that must work offline — serial numbers, part codes, short instructions. They carry the data themselves and need no connection.
